A Letter to Anyone Living with Chronic Illness or Chronic Pain: You Are Not Alone

To anyone dealing with chronic pain and illness,

This road doesn’t seem to get easier, does it? The ever-changing symptoms, the failed treatments, and the endurance of surviving this can feel overwhelming. I want you to know: you are seen. What you carry is heavy. It’s not something you wanted to deal with or asked for, but here you are living your life despite it.

On the days when it feels too heavy, know you are not alone. Know that this wave of intense pain will ease, just as waves always return with the tide.

It’s ok to be angry. It’s ok to be pissed off. But I hope in the middle of it all, you feel wrecked by the goodness around you. Maybe it’s goodness in an iced latte on a hot summer day. Maybe it’s a deep belly laugh that fills up your soul when you watch a hilarious animal reel. Or maybe it’s feeling seen by someone you love.

On your hardest days, may hope greet you in the most unexpected ways. Hold your head up! You are making it one day at a time.

Sincerely,

Lindsey
