When Anxiety Feels Endless: How Anchoring Helps You Reclaim Calm

When we dwell in anxiety, fear can become a way of life.

We feel overwhelmed by fear…

The fear of what could go wrong.

The fear that everything will fall apart if we loosen our grip.

Visceral, unrelenting fear.

Learning to Notice Anxiety & Fear

Fear screams that anxiety sees the full picture, but anxiety can’t see the future. Anxiety spins its wheels trying to protect us, but it often leaves us exhausted in our survival.

Learning to navigate anxiety doesn’t mean we ignore it. We don’t stick our heads in the sand and pretend “everything is fine”. We must acknowledge anxiety without giving it power. This looks like learning to anchor ourselves.

The Art of Anchoring

Anchoring is planting our feet on solid ground. It’s redirecting our minds to what is true, good, and healing.

On days when anxiety is screaming, it’s noticing this and choosing to turn our minds to what is true, and calming our nervous systems through breathing deeply and grounding ourselves to the present moment. It’s a skill and a practice. It takes time, but it is worth pursuing.
